PROGRESSION IN MECHANIC CLASSIFICATION:
· Mechanic 3 (100%): Classification reserved for employees who have completed Mechanic 3 PQCs and at least 4,000 hours total relevant experience. Must complete foreman PQC and an additional 1,000 hours of relevant experience to become qualified as foreman.
· Mechanic 2 (94%): Classification reserved for employees who have completed Mechanic 2 PQCs, Plant Tech 3s who would like to change departments, and experienced millwrights hired. Plant Tech 3 transfers must complete the L&K online training portions of the Mechanic 1 and 2 PQC’s in order to be eligible to apply for a Mechanic2 position, and the remainder of mechanic 1&2 PQC’s must be completed within the first year of working within that classification. Millwrights hired without Healy Station experience must complete Mechanic 1 & 2 PQCs within the first year of work in this classification. In addition, employees must gain at least 2,000 hours of experience within this classification before being considered for advancement to Mechanic 3. Mechanic 3 PQCs and an additional 1,000 hours of relevant experience necessary to move to Mechanic 3 classification.
· Mechanic 1 (85%): Classification reserved for limited mechanical or plant experienced candidates or employees who have completed Plant Tech 2 PQCs who would like to change departments. Plant Tech 2 transfers must complete the L&K online training portion of the Mechanic 1 PQC’s in order to be eligible to apply for the Mechanic 1 position. Once in the Mechanic 1 position the employee must complete the remainder of the Mechanic 1 PQC’s within the first 6 months worked in this classification. Mechanic 2 PQCs and an additional 1,000 hours of relevant experience necessary to move to Mechanic 2 classification.
· Mechanic Entry (70%): Classification reserved for entry-level Mechanics hired and Plant Tech Entry or level 1s who would like to change departments. No plant experience needed in order to fill this position. Entry and Mechanic 1 PQCs and 2,000 hours of relevant experience necessary to move to Mechanic 1 classification.
