Wild salmon on parade 2008
The 6th Annual Wild Salmon on Parade (tm) is inspired by the example and
spirit of Soul Salmon (Olympia, 2001) and Cows on Parade (Chicago, 1999).
Following our wildly successful Wild Salmon on Parade 2007, we are again teaming
up with organizations and artists to place large, uniquely decorated fiberglass
salmon sculptures in Anchorage. The project's goal is neither to make nor
lose money, but to nourish art and culture. The fish will be on display in
downtown Anchorage from June through August.
The 2008 Wild Salmon on Parade will be a celebration of Alaska's 50 years of
statehood!
Join IBEW 1547, Camp Fire USA - Alaska Council, the Anchorage Concert
Association and the Alaska Conservation Foundation on:

APRIL 28, 2008 WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY
Decades of struggle by workers and their unions have resulted in significant
improvements in working conditions. But the toll of workplace injuries,
illnesses and deaths remains enormous. Each year, thousands of workers are
killed and millions more are injured or diseased because of their jobs. The
unions of the AFL-CIO remember these workers on April 28, Workers Memorial Day.
On this day, people in hundreds of communities and at worksites will
recognize workers who have been killed or injured on the job.
